As I walked across our town this morning,
thinking about election day,
I heard a sound, a deep-down warning:
they were ripping voters’ rights away,

closing polling places,
jerrymandering crooked lines across our land.
They want to bring back old Jim Crow
if the Supreme Court will lend its broken hand.

There are two ways to steal an election,
two ways to poison us with doubt:
make it impossible for the people to vote
or find a way to cheat with the count.

We understand what they have planned.
We will vote and vote - take a stand.
